More things to know regarding Alfalfa-
- Fertilize and lime according to soil tests
- Till and level seed bed to break down clods. Firm seed bed until our footprint is no deeper than 3/8".
- Plant seed at recommended rate according to the mix
- Seed should be planted or worked into the soil to a depth of 1/4" and no greater than 1/2" with a harrow or cultipacker
- Firm seed bed again
- Seed requires ample moisture to germinate
- Allow plant to get well established before first cutting. Do not over-harvest during the fist year.
